Device Preview
Select and control supported iOS simulators and Android emulators from the local host player, including live input and test location.
For a connected simulator or emulator session, the local player can switch the right-hand session view between Simulator and Playback. Simulator shows the current controllable target; Playback shows the recorded screenshot timeline while capture continues.
Discover and prepare devices
Open Manage → Devices to inspect supported local targets. Depending on the host platform and installed toolchains, the player can surface:
- booted and stopped iOS simulators;
- running Android emulators;
- installed Android virtual devices that the host can start;
- installed app identifiers reported by those targets.
Device actions are capability-driven. Unsupported controls are hidden or disabled rather than simulated in the browser.
Live input
When a connected session reports a supported native device identifier, the Simulator view can forward approved pointer, swipe, scroll, pinch, keyboard, Back, Home, and device-button actions through the host. The host records action evidence with the session when the workflow requests it.
Use ansight ui and ansight device commands when an agent or script needs the
same behavior with exact coordinates, semantic targets, assertions, or JSON
results.
Location and routes
The Simulator location drawer can:
- set or clear a coordinate;
- replay GPX or KML routes using recorded timestamps;
- replay a route at a fixed speed.
Route parsing and device commands run locally. Keep location files free of unnecessary customer or production data.
Host permissions
Native simulator control can require platform permissions and installed device
toolchains. Open Manage → Host health for readiness and remediation details,
and use ansight doctor --json for machine-readable diagnostics.
